Surface Profile: The profile of a surface will affect the coating’s overall performance. The height of the profile (measured from the peaks to the troughs) determines aspects such as adhesion, coverage and overall volume of coating used. If the profile is too large the amount of coating required to ensure adequate coverage increases, otherwise there is a danger that the peaks remain uncoated - allowing rust spots to occur. If the profile is too small, there may be an insufficient key to produce adequate adhesion, leading to premature coating failure. Ensuring the correct surface preparation optimizes the performance of the coating and material usage. |

Digital Surface Profile Gauge - Elcometer 224 Separate: The Elcometer 224 is available in two different models: Model B and Model T. Each gauge provides the user with increasing functionality - from the entry level Elcometer 224 Model B, to the top of the range Elcometer 224 Model T, with memory, alpha-numeric batching and Bluetooth® communication.
Standard and armoured probes are available for the separate models, providing even greater measurement flexibility. Elcometer surface profile probes are supplied with a glass zero plate, calibration test foils (nominal values 125µm (5.0mils) & 508µm (20mils) and an Elcometer Test Certificate. |
Digital Surface Profile Gauge - Elcometer 224 Integral: The Elcometer 224 is available in two different models: Model B and Model T. Each gauge provides the user with increasing functionality - from the entry level Elcometer 224 Model B, to the top of the range Elcometer 224 Model T, with memory, alpha-numeric batching and Bluetooth® communication.
Integral gauges are ideal for single handed operation as the wide footprint of the internal probe provides greater stability during measurement - allowing for consistent, repeatable and accurate results.

Elcometer 123 Surface profile Gauge: This easy to use gauge measures the peak-to-valley height of a blast cleaned surface.
The average of a series of measurements provides an indication of the surface roughness and allows the surfaces to be compared as blasting proceeds. Metric and Imperial versions |
Elcometer 223 Surface profile Gauge: A Digital Surface Profile Gauge which measures the peak-to-valley height of a surface in a similar way to the Elcometer 224.
RS232 output - for direct transfer of readings to a PC, datalogger, miniprinter etc. This provides a permanent record of your test results as there is no memory in the gauge. Metric and Imperial switchable

Replica/ Testex Tape: The Elcometer 122 Testex Replica Tape is a very simple technique to measure a surface profile. The foam side of the Testex Tape is used to mould the peak-to-valley profile of the surface and then the measurement is taken by the Elcometer 124, a mechanical Surface Profile and Thickness Gauge.
The Elcometer 124 Thickness gauge has been specifically designed to provide the correct anvil area and measurement force so as not to effect the surface profile reading. The gauge can also be zeroed to offset the original tape window thickness (typically 50µm (2 mils). The Testex Replica Tape is a proof of test, as the tape can be included in manual reports. |
Elcometer 7061 MarSurf PS1 Surface Roughness Tester:In protective coating applications there is a requirement to measure surface roughness. The Elcometer 7061 surface roughess tester is a light weight and portable measuring solution for the range of surface roughness measurements required for compliance to International Standards. The unit is also suitable for assessing surface roughness conditions in a wide range of general industrial applications; particularly where the sample is too large to bring to the laboratory. Features:
Ø Multi-Lingual Display: All the required information is displayed on screen in a choice of 14 languages.
Ø Flexible: Can be used in virtually any position; horizontally, vertically, upside down. A height adjustment accessory to accommodate various sample sizes is supplied with each gauge as standard.
Ø Integrated Calibration Standard: No external calibration standard is required; provides greater ease of use.
Ø Drive Unit: Can be rotated and moved longitudinally; enables the stylus pick-up to be moved to the calibrating position. The stylus pick-up is also protected for transport in this position.
Ø Stylus pick-up with removable protection: 2µm (80µin) diamond stylus tip with a measuring force of 0.7 mN. Different stylus’ are available for various applications.
